Royal Photographic Society – Lacock, Wiltshire – Wedding Workshop

As I was packing the car, I felt the cool breeze run along the back of my neck as I leaned in and placed the camera bag so that it wouldn’t bounce about when I hurtled down the M4 corridor. Is it going to rain? I didn’t give it a second thought as I buckled up, changed the sat nav voice from Darth Vader to the lady and started the journey to discovery.

I peeled off the M4 and pulled into the outskirts of Chippenham. I remembered the sunset on the way whilst sat nav lady told of the last few corners I had to negotiate. I felt the small smile as I passed Costa, remember that for the morning, and arrived at my destination. Home for the next two nights. I unpacked the car, checked in, slept well and grabbed the Flat White and Double Espresso the next morning, on the way to the Manger Barn. In the heart of Lacock.

Terry Hewlett was waiting outside the barn, looking out for his new students like a parent who watches up the street, looking for their child to turn the corner. I really liked Terry, he was warm and welcoming and had a lot to say. Naturally forthcoming, the information and experience he parted with us was a treasure-trove. He took us to all the best places around Lacock and I certainly came away happy and fulfilled. As he handed to me my Certificate of Acheivement, I bid him farewell, hoping to see him again at another workshop.

Who you’ll see in the following photos is Dani. She was a great model and very patient. I treated my time with Dani as I would a Bridal and Portrait shoot and composed and shot it that way. In most of the compositions I did, I tried directing Dani to get some variety from the locations. Keeping the other photographers out of the composition was just as hard as them trying to keep me out of theirs:-)

On the drive back home, it started to rain. Perfect timing. Thanks for waiting!

I love how the lens blurs out the background

Along the wall, Dani really pops out of this picture

Liking how the light points down towards her

Including some of the details of the Manger Barn

Some details…

.. and a little more …

The golden sun light around Dani makes her glow

Dan joined us for some of the bride and groom shots

Using some lights for atmosphere

… and Dani looks very sexy. Probably not the right light or pose for a bride:-)

I hope this post goes to show the time and effort I spend to keep up to date with the modern wedding techniques and that I invest as much as I can in giving my brides modern and professional results.
