About Me
Hi, my name is Ramesh Yadav, my brother and sisters call me Ram so I guess that's where the company name came from (the first syllable of my complete name): RAM | YAD :-)
I was born in Birmingham and I moved to London in '96 after Uni (De Montfort). I have four sisters and a brother. And I LOVE my family. It was my dad that inadvertently sparked my interest in photography. Thanks Dad! :-) He bought a Practica Film SLR when we were kids and I loved taking the family photos. I think it's the gadget freak in me that liked the camera and although I was too young to appreciate what was happening to me back then, it wasn't until the first Digital SLR's came onto the market that I bought myself an SLR.
From then, it's history. I started photographing landscapes and architecture and my photos have been published in national magazines (front cover), hanging up in board rooms, purchased by book publishers. I like taking short trips to photogenic places to capture their beauty and if I like the results then I'll make calendars to give as one of the presents at christmas time.
I like cars (typically bloke eh), cooking (mum taught be the "good stuff" before I went off to uni), gadgets, reading (I love books, so tactile - love the smell of a new book ), coffee (can't start the day without a good Colombian brew with brown sugar), golf, being creative, having a go at anything new, failing and succeeding (it's our nature and how we learn and grow) and of course, photography! I try to be a pragmatic with my photography and is how my passion was lit and how it grew into the flame that it is now.
My passion for people and portrait photography led me to wedding photography. And, I have to say that I am addicted to photographing brides and their wedding day. The beauty of the day and especially the brides is something so unique that I can't get the feeling I get anywhere else, when I am capturing their magnificence.
All aspects of your wedding day is important to me too. If you take a read through my Frequently Asked Questions section, there you can find more detailed information on how I work on your wedding day.
To keep up to date on the latest wedding techniques, I attend annual workshops. This year I have been on wedding photography workshops with the British Institue of Professional Photography (BIPP) and will be attending a two day workshop on wedding photography with the Royal Photographic Society (RPS).
About My Style
Primarily, I work in a reportage photography method, which means I capture the wedding day as it happens and to tell the story of the day. I keep quiet and unobtrusive and flit around the periphery. I do step in and take control but that only happens at three points in the wedding day: the bridal party groups before the ceremony, the post ceremony group shots and the bride and grooms portraits.
When you look through my galleries, you can look out for my photography styles. Primarily, you'll see the candid styles where people are acting naturally, not posing or looking at the camera. In the directed shots, they will either look posed where I use fashion poses, or are naturally directed. I will always talk about the posing styles with my brides so we both know what the end results will look like and what the bride would like me to aim for. I will always make sure that the bride looks gorgeous. It is my primary goal number 1! End of.
If you would rather not apply any posing techniques in your wedding photography, then great, it makes your wedding book look very natural. For me, I like using some natural posing for the bride and broom portraits because it can make the photos look professional and stand out from the rest.
I feel it is important that we have a pre-wedding consultation so we can talk about both our expectations and more importantly, I can understand what type of couple you are so your photographs reflect that.
Would you like to know a little about my technical skills? Well I shoot full manual, and I am completely at one with my camera's, flash and lenses. That leaves me to concentrate on the art of photography and more specifically the art of wedding photography. So, I concentrate on composition, styles, using shallow focus to blur out the background and focus on the important part of the frame. How to find and use the best light, even on a cloudy day. I'm always chasing the light, it's what makes the biggest difference between an OK photo and a great photo. If I can't find the best light, then I'll manufacturer it with my lights.
I hope that you have got to know a little about me and my photography style and if you would like to know more then please contact me and I would be very happy to chat about your photography needs in a stress-free, friendly and non-commital manner. If I can't help you then I will try and advise you as much as I can.
So please take a look through my gallery and I hope to work with you in photographing your special day.
Thank you for reading and your time,
Ram.
